What do you love about HOY community?
I love the foundation on what House of Yoga was built. To me, it is a place of total inclusion and acceptance. A place for people to find a connection to something beyond themselves. HOY has given me a community and support in one of the most challenging times of my life. I will be forever grateful.
Why do you practice?
I practice for the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits that yoga offers. I love the challenge of attempting a new pose or master an old one. I've learned how every day my body is different and that is okay. I'm an active volleyball player, and have noticed significant improvements in my play since actively practicing yoga. However, the community HOY offers is the most important reason I practice. I draw strength from the community. Yoga is not the same without it.
How long have you practice?
I've practiced on and off for 15 years, but never got beyond the very basics. I would occasionally go to yoga classes at gyms.
What got you into yoga?
I took a class in college about 15 years ago. It was very low key and relaxing.
What changes have you seen in your life sense you've started yoga?
Since I feel like I have only really been practicing for 4 months, I am quite amazed by the changes I've seen. Physically - I've toned up significantly. My mother noticed that I "lost my belly". I think she is convinced to do yoga herself. Emotionally - My outlook on life has been much improved over the past few months. I feel more balanced and overall happier. It did not happen right away, but I've felt amazingly better since I've been practicing.
